The First Aid Response Instructor course is designed for those who wish to become certified instructors in delivering the First Aid Response (FAR) course.

By becoming a first aid trained instructor, you can help others gain the essential knowledge and skills to respond to emergencies and save lives.

First Aid Response Instructor

This course by Medicore is designed to equip you with the essential skills to design, deliver, and evaluate First Aid training in accordance with the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) First Aid Response (FAR) standard and Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).

The program runs over two days of classroom-based instruction, followed by three monitored sessions where candidates will:

  • Observe a FAR training course

  • Assist in course delivery

  • Deliver training under supervision

Upon successful completion of these monitored sessions, candidates will be fully qualified as PHECC FAR Instructors.

Who's it for

This course is designed for individuals who want to teach first aid training, have a valid First Aid Responder certification, and prior instructor-level training experience, including a CFR instructor qualification.

Requirements

Participants must hold:

• A valid First Aid Responder certificate or practitioner-level qualification, and
• A valid Cardiac First Response (CFR) Instructor certificate

Method of Delivery

The course is delivered through a combination of face-to-face instruction, DVD materials, and role-play scenarios, allowing you to learn both the theoretical and practical aspects of first aid instruction.

Renewal

In order to maintain your qualification after your two-year certification period, you must teach 4 courses within the timeframe of your instructor cert and will also be required to attend for a monitored teaching session with one of our faculty.

• Instructional Methods: Learn how to design and deliver First Aid classes, using a variety of teaching strategies.
• Assessing and Evaluating Participants: As an instructor, you will be trained to assess the performance of course participants and ensure they meet the required standards.
• Supervised Teaching Practice: You will have the opportunity to observe and assist experienced instructors during training sessions, which is a key part of the course.
• PHECC FAR Standard: All course content and assessments are aligned with the PHECC First Aid Response guidelines, ensuring that you teach the most current and relevant first aid protocols.
• After completing the two-day instructor training, candidates will enter a monitoring phase where they must observe, assist, and eventually deliver their own course in the presence of an experienced instructor. Successful completion will lead to full instructor certification.

Duration

This course spans two days, followed by a monitoring phase where candidates observe, assist, and deliver their own first aid training sessions.

Assessment

Candidates are evaluated on their ability to design and deliver first aid courses, assess participants effectively, and meet PHECC First Aid Responder standards.

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive a joint PHECC/Medicore FAR certification.
