Duration
Initial 2 day Provider Course requires approximately 10-12 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.
Heartcode ACLS course includes an online module completed in advance and approx. 5-6 hours, classroom based skills practice and skills testing on the day.
Assessment
Students will be required to show skills competency in all learning stations and passing the CPR and AED skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, a Megacode test, and a written test.
HeartCode ACLS Part 1. Upon successful completion of the online portion, including the written exam, students receive a Part 1 certificate of completion, which must be presented for part 2.
Part 2 a hands-on skills practice session with an AHA ACLS Instructor.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the ACLS course students will be issued with an Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association digital certificate.
This certificate will be valid for 2 years. It should also be noted that as this course is certified by both the Irish Heart Foundation & American Heart Association it is recognised internationally.
Course Details
Who's it for
Our Medicore ACLS course is recommended for Consultants, Registrars, Senior House Officers, Interns, Medical Students, General Practitioners, Dentists, Clinical Nurse Managers, Nurses, Advanced Paramedics, Cardiac Technicians, Cardiac Rehabilitation Staff, Respiratory Therapists, Physiotherapists and other Healthcare Personnel who may be required to respond to a cardiac arrest.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required before the ACLS course.
Requirements
All students must hold a current Basic Life Support certificate. This should have been issued within the last 12 months.
Students should be physically well enough to carry out chest compression on a manikin while standing and kneeling.
Method of Delivery
The course is facilitated by a medical director from Medicore Medical Services and instructors who will use theory & practical lessons, role play, and videos to guide you through the course.
The course is delivered through English. There is also a Blended Learning (HeartCode ACLS Part 1) option available for this course.
Renewal
In order to maintain you qualification after your two-year certification period you will be required to undertake a renewal course.
